What’s Mamatoto Retreat At Home?
It’s a supportive virtual community of like- minded women who are wanting to feel connected to other mothers, themselves and their baby.
As a Postpartum Doula, Women’s Circle Facilitator and Postnatal Yoga and Pilates Instructor, I’m here to support you.
As a member of our Tribe, you’ll have access to our weekly LIVE Postnatal Yoga and Pilates classes and LIVE Q &A on zoom or in our Private Facebook Community and our bi- monthly Mamas Circles on zoom. And you’ll have a supportive tribe of women standing beside you as you navigate mamahood.
My Postnatal Yoga classes incorporate yoga poses, breathing, meditation and relaxation to help you heal from pregnancy and birth.
The sequences are based on my yoga practice throughout my postnatal journey plus 15 years of teaching postnatal yoga.
Classes are focused on alignment and technique and are for all levels of yoga experience including beginners.

My Postnatal Pilates classes is a mat workout using your own bodyweight for resistance. Small props like therabands, foam rollers and hand weights may be used to stretch and tone your whole body to regain your strength, realign your spine and pelvis and improve your posture after pregnancy and birth.
The sequences are based on my pilates practice throughout my postnatal journey plus 8 years of teaching postnatal pilates and have been approved by a Women’s Health Physio.
I offer regressions and progressions to accomodate postnatal women of all levels of pilates experience and conditions such a diastasis recti and pelvic floor conditions.

The Mamas Retreat
The Mamas Retreat incorporates yin yoga, yoga nidra (guided deep relaxation) and meditation to calm your nervous system.
Yin Yoga is a beautiful, slow and intense practice moving deeply into the fascia (connective tissue) of your body. The sequence is made up of floor based poses and held for up to 3 minutes each with a 90 second rebound pose in between to recalibrate.
My postnatal yin yoga classes focus primarily on releasing tension in the shoulders, neck, upper back and hips avoid any contraindicated poses for postnatal bodies.
We’ll top it off with Yoga Nidra so you can float into bed after after class.
1st Thursday of the month from 8- 9pm via zoom
Once a month we’ll gather via zoom to explore a different theme to help you to reconnect with yourself, your baby and other like- minded women. It’s an opportunity for you to hear and be heard and see and be seen.
Sitting in Circle with other mamas, listening to their stories, helps you connect and realise you’re not alone.
Showing up and connecting with other mamas prevents loneliness and isolation.
Sharing from our hearts, we get to share in the celebration of our successes and honour each other’s challenges and struggles.
3rd Thursday of the month from 8- 9pm via zoom

“If you’re considering a visit to Mamatoto Retreat then my advice is to waste no time and do it ASAP. This place is a dead set sanctuary. Melissa you are so insanely good at what you do! I feel so thankful to have come across this place – my mind and my body needed it. The space, the beyond thoughtful touches, the yoga, the meditation, the everything were all just mind bogglingly good! I will absolutely be visiting again (regularly!). Highly highly recommend!”- Meg L
“Mamatoto retreat has been amazing as a first time mum. Melissa is very knowledgeable and happy to share advice and tips. I really enjoyed the mums and bubs Pilates sessions and also the mama circle. I left the mama circle feeling reenergised and the yoga nidra was incredible. I highly recommend going to a class with Melissa.” – Jess H

When I fell pregnant, I’d been working with pregnant women and new mothers for 15 years as a Prenatal and Postnatal Yoga and Pilates Instructor and trained as a Birth Doula.I’d helped thousands of women prepare their bodies for labour and birth and to regain their “pre- baby body” but it wasn’t until I gave birth to my son that I realised that postpartum is likened to the forgotten ugly sister in the Cinderella Fairytale.
Whilst I had a beautiful drug- free water birth had felt empowered as a mother, the challenges of postpartum took me by surprise. I struggled to juggle motherhood with my business (I owned Yoganic, a yoga and pilates studio in Sydney). I burnt the candle at both ends. When my baby slept, I worked leaving me with “Postnatal Depletion”, adrenal fatigue and a hypoactive thyroid.
It was yin yoga, yoga nidra and meditation (along with vitamin and mineral supplements) that helped me to heal.
My postpartum journey inspired me to become a qualified Postpartum Doula so I can help new mamas avoid feeling physically and emotionally exhausted and instead feel deeply rested, relaxed and nourished in their transition to mamahood.
Who’s this membership for?
Postnatal women, whether you’re a first time mama or a seasoned professional who wants to get to know your new self, your new baby.
When can I join?
I recommend getting a postnatal check up with a Women’s Health Physio before joining in on the classes but you’re welcome to join anytime and make the most of the Q & A with a Postpartum Doula and the monthly Mamas Circle.
Can I do a casual class or do I have to sign up for a membership?
Classes are for those willing to commit to having a positive postpartum. This requires you to come to as many classes as you can over a period of time to work towards your goal and it allows me to get to know you and tailor my classes to your unique needs.
You can however, join The Mamas Retreat- Yin yoga, yoga nidra and meditation on the 1st Thursday of every month via zoom.

Search, Mamatoto Retreat At Home in Facebook Groups and submit your request to join. Once inside the group, please introduce yourself.
What if the class time doesn’t suit me?
The class will be recorded on Facebook LIVE so they’ll be available to do at a more convenient time and as often as you like.
What if I miss the LIVE Q&A?
You can submit your questions the day prior and I’ll endeavour to answer all the questions in the LIVE Q&A so you can watch the replay. If you leave any comments, I’ll check back later and respond.
What if I miss the Mama Circle?
To create a safe and sacred space for women to feel heard and supported, the Mama Circle won’t be recorded.
What if I’m New to Yoga or Pilates?
Classes are for all levels- including complete beginners. I’ll encourage you throughout the class to listen to your body and if an exercise doesn’t feel comfortable, I’ll suggest ways you can modify it so it feels good and gives you the most benefits.
Do I need any yoga or pilates props?
You’ll need a mat or towel and for everything else you can substitute things from around your house or you can buy very cheaply from Kmart or Rebel Sport:
Strap: therband, tie, sarong or piece of rope

For relaxation, use either your pregnancy pillow or 2 pillows, a pillow or cushion for under your head and a throw or blanket to keep you warm.
Hand weights: 2 cans
Birth Ball: a chair (plus modifications)
Theraband (resistance band): hand weights or a yoga strap or belt (depends on the exercise)
